I went out to hartwell last sat. and sunday. On sat. I pretty much had to beat the bass with a boat paddle to keep them off my floating worm. It was one of the best days I have had in a long time. Went back sunday to take the wife and let her try it, and naturally, no bites...I know fish are finiky, but it made me wonder. In what water clarity do you normally fish a fw?? It was pretty clear where I was fishing, and the dirtier the water got, the less strikes I got. This seems to go against the norm since I was using super bright worms. What about super muddy water like greenwood? Also, I got a lot fewer bites once the sun got up. Is this another trend you have noticed, or just what the fish were doing that day? And finally, do you normally throw a fw strictly around structure (docks, brush, etc.), or open water? All of my fish came from seemingly open water (although not to say there wasnt anything down there). Thanks in advance.

Hey scout,
your not the only angler that has suffered that dilema. I have seen it happen many times. I finally figured out that all it took was a change in the color of the worm to turn the fish back on. water color does have effect on the scenerio also. In dingy water or very stained water in most cases a Sunshine Yellow, Lime Green, Methiolate worm or Bright White will perform the best but I have seen times that when they refuse to take the bright colors, if you will switch to a Black Grape or Solid Black floating worm it will draw a few more strikes. In many cases dark colors can be seen easier by the bass in dark or stained water just like Black or Black Grape works better at night.
Hope this helps.
Softy
