well..aint been on here in a while but i have been fishing. all i can say is jocassee is all but on fire right now. dont know if its the low water or what but it hasnt been uncommon for me to catch 4 and 5 pound fish lately.biggest in december was 8lbs14oz. biggest in january is 7lbs7oz and it was a spot! been trying some new things up there than the usual stuff and it seems to be working. DD22's, 1oz spinnerbaits, spoons, carolina rigged flukes, big flukes on a drop shot and a jig and pig with a finesse worm tied above it. the spoons ive been jiggin with are the spoons the guys up there use for trout fishing. there a whole lot bigger than charlies spoons too. they are homemade with a variety of different colors. i think what helps them is that there a little bit lighter in weight and they fall slower and flutter more. they are called bad creek baits. hoyetts has them in stock. theyre about 4 dollars a piece. anyway, as far as where im catching them at, theyre really all over the place. but mostly big rock ledges, mouths of creeks, and steep main lake points. the smallmouth ive been catching seem to stack up like the spots on keowee do. you find one youve found twenty. they seem to like that drop shot with the big fluke on it the best. ive been catching quite a few of them in the past few weeks. they really like the colder water for some reason. every winter i seem to catch more of them than i do anything else. i guess the cold doesnt hurt their appetite. they also seem to like that spoon thrown out as far as you can, let it fall till it hits the bottom, then jerk it again and let it fall till it bottoms out and so on till you get it back to the boat. well, thats all i got right now but one more thing. at the main ramp, dont use the landing slip closest to hoyetts because your trailer will fall off the ramp. didnt do this personally, but seen someone else do it and it looked pretty nasty. good luck, tritontr22

how deep was you catching them?

they are anywhere from 30 to 45 feet

ohh yea one more thing i failed to mention....i am now an official bass guide for jocassee outdoor center (aka hoyetts). old salem boy moving on up in the world.lol. things keep going at this pace i'll try to qualify for the classic if they fish jocassee..hahahaha
