trim gauge not working how do i check to see if its the gauge or the sending unit or something else.

Unplug your sender from the wiring harness and install an ohm meter in the black and white/tan connectors depress the arm on the sender if it shows movement it is the meter if it doesn't it is the sender @ $90. for a new sender.
