I bought 2 new Elite 7 units for my Triton TR21 when they mounted the transducer on the outside of back of boat i have no problem picking up bottom until i plane off then it loses the bottom ...any help on best place to mount the transducer so i don't lose bottom when i plane off ? Thanks...

Make sure the transducer isn't set too deep. Sounds like you're getting turbulance when the boat gets going. You can adjust it up/down by loosening the screws. I usually set them so the seam is slightly above the bottom of the hull.

Does the transducer need to be all the way down near the bottom pad ? Right now it is about half way down the back of boat ...

yes you want it on the bottom atleast a foot from the pad..
