Anyone hosting a tournament this year better check with D.N.R. first. We are now required to have a permit through them as well as Corp of Engineers. Contact the Columbia office for further instructions. They told me today it will be a large fine and you must evacuate immediately. No warnings !!!

Can you post on here, or send me a pm, who you spoke with? (need phone number) I've talked to 4 different people with Columbia / Clemson and none of them knew about it. I also spoke with my contact at Corp of Eng (where I get my permit every year) and he wasn't aware of any fines.

One of the Clemson reps told me that they the Corp would normally send SCDNR a copy of any permits for their records and she didn't know if that was changing.

AND JUST LIKE THAT.… I'm wrong! Literally 20 minutes after I posted the statement above I got a call from the Clemson office. The rep told me that all tournaments, on all lakes, must have a permit through SCDNR. She said it's always been a policy but never strictly enforced. This year they will be pushing the regulation. There is a fine (ranging from $25 to $200) if you're checked and do not have the permit. And there's a fee of $25 per permit / per lake.... but it's unclear if it's $25 per event or just $25 per lake. So my permits will cost me (Cowboy's) $100 min for the 4 lakes we fish.

Regardless, I've already started the process. I was allowed to enter multiple dates per lake but not multiple lakes on the app.
Go to DNR.SC.GOV and type "marine events" in the search block. There you will find the application and the address to mail it to. The site doesn't say anything about the fee but she told me I wouldn't get the permit without paying the app fee.

Quick Update. Just got off the phone with SCDNR and was informed that they are going to be looking for these permits any time there are 20+ boats in a tournament. Also found out that my applications would not be accepted because we have to submit an application for each event. (so I will need 16 applications to cover the 2021 season)

I will have my emails as evidence for my request for this weekend's tournament on Keowee but I will need the signed permits going forward. WOW!
