I was wondering if anybody else has caught some bass out of Bowen that you might not have been sure what it was? I know there are spots in the lake, as previously mentioned in other posts, but I have caught some bass that I would not call a spot or a largemouth. I have put several in the aquarium up at THe Southern Sportsman and have had people comment that it was a Florida Strain Bass, or something else like that. They tend to be aggressive fish, killing anything else you put in the tank with them , including other bass twice their size. Markings on them look more like a spotted bass, but the mouth and jaw is more like a largemouth bass, and they do usually have those bright red eyes. Anybody know what they might be?

sounds to me like you could be talking about a coosa bass otherwise known as redeye bass.

Probably Coosa bass. Shoal bass looks similar too but they probably don't exist this far up.
