Might get a new reel for Christmas from my lovely wife. Do not know which way to go. The CU200DHSV or the CU100DSV . The 100 is lighter but the 200 has one more bearing. Know several of you have these reels. Could use some help in deciding.

Hawgcaller… It depends on many factors…
The type of lures you plan on using… Most of the time…
Size of your hands… line capacity... etc…
The CU200DHSV has a 7.0:1 gear ratio…
The CU100DSV has a 6.2:1gear ratio…
7.1:1 is great for Sebile Magic Swimmers & Buzz Baits…
But it will kill you when using a DD22
The 200DHSV holds a good bit more line over the 100DSV…
When I’m using top water baits like a big spook or Sammy…
More line is better…
The 100DSV has a smaller profile than does the 200DHSV…
If you have smaller hands… The 200DHSV may be less comfortable when palming your reel…
Bearings are not a big factor…
Shimano reels have good bearings…
You only need 4 for the reel to work properly…
Quality… In most cases is better than quantity…
7.1:1 reels are designed as specialty reels…
6.2:1 reels are better over all when you use a variety of bait presentations…
I have a CU200DHSV… I like because of the 7.1:1 speed and the line capacity… Top water /Sebile special…
The main reason I didn’t get the 100DSV was line capacity…
Hope that helps a little…
Ask the wife to get you both…
With the rebates… Tell her she will save $100 after rebate…
My wife tries to use that logic on me when she goes shopping… “But It was on sale” LOL
Women love to save $$$$... LOL
It’s worth a try…
Don…

Thanks for your input Don. I have 14 of the old green Curado's that I'e had for many years. 2 of them are the 5:1 that I use for cranking. The rest are 6.2:1. I'm stil not sure which one I'd like cause I' not sure what I'll use it for.
