I haven't been so I can say. I was planning on going to Whelchel last week and Johnson this week but didn't go to either one. I can't afford to fish Blalock.
Has Blalock came up any with the recent rains?

I took my kids out to Johnson this past Sun. We rode around more than fished and I was more of showing them how to cast. But I managed to boat (3) LM's about 2 - 3 #'s each on a Spro Bronzeye Frog Jr. They bit in real heavy deep cover laydowns. Water stained as usual and the fish bit from 4 - 5ft. of deep. Fished shaded area's only. Seen some huge LM's blowing up the bank chasing bait fish but I couldn't convince them to bite.

Its on Hwy 295(Southport Road) about a mile from Hwy 176. Its sort of in the Whitestone/Pacolet area.

RiverRat said it. I always use that small Post Office as a land mark and they have a sign posted. Hope this helps.

Fished Whelchel last Tuesday. Kind of slow for that lake. My fishing Buddy did land two dinks. One on a plastic worm, another on crankbait. Not sure what kind.
I went Thursday evening to Blalock, water still down. The sign at the dock changed from 7 1/2 ft low to 6 ft. So its up a little if thats an accurate assessment. I was told by a local that they were going to raise it by 7 ft from Bowen. I dont know if thats possible but I guess that they could. I caught one dink on a green pumpkin worm up in the cove around the small Sandy Ford Bridge. Water in there is real shallow but the fish was sort of active. I do think they are moving in toward the shallows.
