Thats a pain. You can have it checked but if the battery is good, connections are good, then it prob is the starter...

Apply a light bead of 3-in-1 oil to the shaft of the starter and try it again. If no go then pull the starter off and bring it to an auto-electrical shop for testing or repair.

I tested the starter with the battery in my truck just to make sure. It jumped a little then came back down so I think it's the bindix gear which i can get for around $20, but now I think my battery is no good. I had it checked at Advanced auto and they said it was good, but it just needed a slow charge. I brought it home and put it on a 2amp charge for 24 hours and now it only reads 10.55 volts and 7 amps. I THINK I NEED A NEW BATTERY TOO!!! UGH!

Get a good battery ( 1000 Cold Cranking Amp w/ 120 amp hr ) oil the starter shaft as ChampionMan said and you should be OK. You need the amp hrs running Live wells , lights electrons exc. with the motor off not charging. and 1000 cca is what Mercury calls for to start. in a group 31 if you got room for it.
