If I buy a trolling motor with a 48 inch shaft can a simple man shorten it to say a 36 inch without a bunch of trouble? I found a 40 lb 12 volt for the small boat but it's shaft is too long. Thanks, RM

Yep just pull the foot and head off, tag the wires and cut the tube with a tubing cutter. reattach everything and trim and ring the wires at the head.

Thanks CM. I thought I had read that somewhere but needed to confirm it before I spend the money. Thanks again. RM
