Lake Wateree is a 13,250 acre man-made lake operated by Duke Power Company. It is known for crappie, bass, catfish and bream in one of South Carolina's oldest man-made lakes. With more than 13,000 surface acres and 242 miles of shoreline, the lake is a year-round favorite of campers, fishermen and recreational boaters. Public access is provided through a number of public boat ramps and Lake Wateree State Park.
Lake Wateree State Park
The park’s 238 acres features a lakeside campground, a nature trail, picnic area with playground equipments, a tackle shop/park store and a boat ramp. The park is home to many species of wildlife, which includes an abundance of whitetail deer, gray squirrels, raccoons, opossums and wild turkey. Bird species include egrets, blue heron, mallards and wood ducks. The parks’ close proximity to I-77 is popular with campers, fishermen and other outdoor recreation enthusiasts.

Wateree Lake Campground is conveniently located between I-77 and I-20, just off of SC 97 at Beaver Creek. Wateree Lake Campground offers:
